Yeonggwang-gun Promotes Excellence of Solar Salt at Salt Expo Participation

Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jong-man) announced on the 17th that it will participate in the Salt Expo held at COEX, Seoul, until the 19th under the theme "Meeting Various Salts Under the Sky" to promote the excellence of Yeonggwang tidal flat solar salt and increase its consumption.

The 2023 Salt Expo, marking its 15th edition this year, is hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Jeollanam-do, Yeonggwang-gun, and Sinan-gun, and organized by the Korea School Meals Newspaper.

The exhibition hall features six themed zones with a total of 78 booths, including healing experience programs using solar salt needed by modern people such as a salt healing cave, solar salt sauna, and salt humidifier, as well as various experience zones like camping dishes cooked with solar salt and a camping salt tasting corner.

As a side event of the expo, to enhance the value of solar salt and revitalize related industries, business agreements were signed with the Korea Kimchi Association, the Korean Culinary Science Society, and the Korean Hotel and Resort Society to elevate the status of solar salt and promote mutual cooperation for creating new added value, expanding sales channels, developing various foods, and increasing solar salt consumption.

Producer groups and related companies of solar salt will participate to showcase the excellence of Yeonggwang solar salt through product exhibitions and promote on-site sales through purchase consultations.

Various county government promotions, including the Bulgapsan Sangsa Flower Festival and the e-Mobility Expo, will also be conducted within the county’s promotional hall.

A county official said, "Through this Salt Expo, we will widely promote the excellence of Yeonggwang tidal flat solar salt to stimulate its consumption and strive to help the solar salt industry grow to the next level through the development of various solar salt products."
