Park Kwang-on "No Need to Undermine Innovation Committee's Awareness of Issues... Expecting Constructive Alternatives"

Park Kwang-on, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 16th, "There is no need to belittle the very awareness of the issues held by the Kim Eun-kyung Innovation Committee," and added, "I hope serious and constructive alternatives will be presented so that the Innovation Committee's results can be properly concluded."

At the lawmakers' meeting held at the National Assembly that afternoon, Floor Leader Park said, "The Innovation Committee posed questions to our lawmakers: 'What are the reflections and tasks regarding the high unfavorable views of Democratic Party politicians and the incompetence, corruption, and hypocrisy identified as causes?' 'What are the reflections and tasks regarding the reasons for the Democratic Party's deteriorated image over the past year?' 'What are reasonable improvement measures for the Democratic Party's online culture?'"

Floor Leader Park said, "Even if there have been various controversies surrounding the Innovation Committee, it is not desirable to render the proposed content useless," and added, "It is necessary to actively incorporate anything that strengthens our party's competitiveness, enhances capabilities, and benefits the party." He further stated, "There will be a calm process of gathering opinions on some controversial issues."

Launched at the end of June, the Kim Eun-kyung Innovation Committee has so far proposed reforms such as the pledge to 'waive parliamentary immunity' and 'open voting on arrest warrants for lawmakers.' On the 10th, it announced the third reform proposal, 'reduction of the delegate system,' and concluded its activities, but it was followed by evaluations that it only left internal conflicts within the party.

The Democratic Party is expected to continue discussions on the reform proposals at the workshop scheduled for the 28th and 29th.
