Gwangju Seobu Fire Station announced on the 13th that it will operate a reward system for reporting illegal activities such as emergency exit closures throughout the year.
The 'Illegal Activity Reporting Reward System' is designed to eradicate illegal activities directly related to safety through voluntary reports from the public, establish a safety culture, and minimize casualties caused by fires. Any citizen of Gwangju can report under this system.
The targets for reporting include multi-use facilities, cultural and assembly facilities, sales facilities, lodging facilities, and complex buildings, specifically ▲closure, blockage, or locking of fire safety facilities ▲placing objects in corridors, stairs, or evacuation routes ▲closure or damage to evacuation fire prevention facilities.
To report, submit a report form with supporting evidence by visiting the local fire station, or via mail, fax, or information communication networks.
Submitted reports will be verified on-site and reviewed for rewards. If confirmed as a violation, a designated reward will be given to the reporter, and fines will be imposed on those responsible for the illegal activities.
A fire official stated, "If the emergency exit, the door to life, is damaged or objects are piled in front of it, it can become a door to death," and added, "We ask for the public’s keen interest and cooperation so that voluntary safety management can be realized."
