Gwangju Buk-gu Hosts National Youth Drone Sports Competition

This competition, the only nationwide event held in Gwangju and Jeonnam, is an event planned by Buk-gu, which is focusing on fostering the drone industry as a future regional growth engine, to discover talents in the 4th industrial revolution and promote drone culture.

The competition will gather about 300 drone enthusiasts, including 100 players composed of elementary and middle school students from across the country, at the Buk-gu Sports Complex on the 19th. The event will kick off with a swarm drone performance, followed by intense competitions in new concept leisure sports: ▲Battle Drone ▲Speed Drone ▲SW Coding Drone.

The competition format includes 'Drone Soccer,' where drones are used as balls to score goals, and 'Battle Drone,' where infrared missiles are used to crash opponents' drones. Each of these team events will have 16 teams competing. 'Speed Drone,' where participants must pass the target goal faster than opponents, and 'SW Coding Drone,' where participants autonomously create flight paths to complete missions, will each have 32 teams competing individually.

Prizes will be awarded with certificates and prize money from 1st to 4th place for team events, Drone Soccer and Battle Drone, and from 1st to 8th place for individual events, Speed Drone and SW Coding Drone.

A Buk-gu official said, "We are pleased to provide a place where drone enthusiasts from all over the country can gather and showcase their skills to the fullest," adding, "We hope everyone participating in the competition will create joyful memories."
