Jamboree members staying at the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy are watching a Taekwondo demonstration on the 10th.
Since the 8th, Scout Jamboree members staying at the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy have been fully immersed in the charm of Korea while watching Taekwondo, magic, and B-boy performances prepared by Gyeonggi Fire.
At 7 p.m. on the 10th, the auditorium of the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy, with 400 seats, was filled with members watching the Korean cultural performance, the highlight of the fire academy experience.
When the 12-member Taekwondo demonstration team began their performance with loud kiai shouts, applause and cheers erupted from all around.
As they showcased synchronized Taekwondo moves along with board breaking, the members took out their smartphones to take photos and videos without pause. After the thrilling 20-minute Taekwondo demonstration ended, all the members stood up and gave a standing ovation with their arms raised above their heads.
In the following magic show, the magician’s dazzling skills unfolded amid tension-building music, receiving great responses from the members.
During the final B-boy performance, the members started to sway their shoulders and move their bodies, and the atmosphere in the fire academy auditorium reached its peak.
Jasper (16) from the Netherlands said, "Participating in the Korea Jamboree, Taekwondo was the third performance, but every time I watch it, I think it’s amazing." He added, "Opportunities like this were rare in the Netherlands, so I’m grateful to Gyeonggi Fire for providing a chance to experience Korean culture such as Taekwondo and B-boy."
Lina (15), also from the same country, said, "I was worried about where we were going after leaving the Saemangeum camp, but I’m just thankful that Gyeonggi Fire warmly welcomed us." She expressed, "Being able to experience various activities and watch wonderful performances will remain a precious memory that I will never forget about Korea for the rest of my life."
In particular, the Dutch delegation presented a framed collection of regional marks to Cho Seon-ho, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, as a token of gratitude.
Since entering the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy on the 8th, the members also experienced various educational programs such as survival swimming, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and wearing self-contained breathing apparatus on this day.
Fire officer Park Hyun-cheol, who served as the survival swimming instructor, said, "Thank you for participating in the training despite the difficult environment. I hope you will remember only good memories of Gyeonggi Fire when you return to your home country."
Fire sergeant Park Jin-pyeong, who worked as an interpreter, said, "Despite my limited English skills, I felt great fulfillment because the Jamboree members responded well." He added, "Some friends said they want to become firefighters after experiencing our programs, and I hope they achieve that dream."
