MFDS Transfers Food Safety Technology to Major Asian Export Countries Including Thailand

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 11th that it will conduct an invited training program for food safety officials from Thailand and Malaysia from the 13th to the 19th.

This training program was organized to transfer food safety management know-how to officials from Asian countries with significant food trade volume with Korea and to promote technical cooperation and exchange with these countries. Last year, the program was conducted for officials from Vietnam and Indonesia.

Korea mainly exports products such as tuna, gim (seaweed), and ramen to Thailand, and ramen, corn starch, and coffee products to Malaysia.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety will introduce Korea's food safety management system, food standards and specifications system, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), among others.

Additionally, on the 17th, the Ministry plans to hold an 'Export Food Policy Briefing' in Yeouido, Seoul, to help domestic food companies better understand the import regulations of the counterpart countries.

An official from the Ministry stated, "We expect this invited training to enhance trust among Asian countries regarding food safety management and improve understanding of the counterpart countries' systems. Moving forward, we will actively support the activation of domestic food exports by strengthening international cooperation networks and continuously providing overseas food safety regulatory information."
