Payment Mixed with 30% Mileage and 70% Cash
Korean Air announced that starting from the 10th, it will raise the usage limit of its hybrid payment service ‘Cash and Miles’ from 20% of the fare to 30% of the fare.
This service allows customers to pay part of the airfare with mileage when purchasing tickets. It is characterized by having no restrictions on departure dates or seat availability.
With this increased usage limit, customers can use mileage from a minimum of 500 miles up to 30% of the fare (excluding taxes and fuel surcharges) when purchasing tickets on the Korean Air website or mobile application (app). This applies when purchasing tickets in Korean won or US dollars. However, itineraries transiting through Korea, codeshare flights, and multi-segment itinerary payments are excluded.
Korean Air also operates the ‘Bonus Hot Pick’ service, which offers discounts when purchasing new award tickets. This service provides comprehensive information on award ticket routes eligible for mileage discounts on the Korean Air website or mobile app.
A Korean Air official stated, "We continue to introduce services that make it more convenient to use mileage, such as Cash and Miles, Bonus Hot Pick, and Bonus Seat Calendar, while also expanding the proportion of bonus seats. As a result, the usage of international award ticket seats in the first half of this year has exceeded the total usage for the entire previous year, and compared to the first half of 2019 before COVID-19, the mileage used for award tickets has increased by 1.5 times."
