Sejong-si Expands Public-Type Daycare Centers to 20 Locations

Previously, there were 14 public-type daycare centers operating in the area, and including the newly designated ones, a total of 20 public-type daycare centers will be operated in Sejong.

Public-type daycare centers are selected and designated from excellent private and home daycare centers, supported with operating expenses, and provide high-quality services to infants and toddlers under strengthened operational standards.

To be designated as a public-type daycare center, the center must receive the 'highest grade' in the evaluation certification by the Korea Childcare Promotion Institute, comply with the Infant and Toddler Care Act and guidelines, and meet basic conditions and detailed standards such as daycare center installation requirements.

Starting next month, newly designated public-type daycare centers will receive monthly support including ▲ an increase of 400,000 KRW per childcare class with a homeroom teacher assigned ▲ 600,000 KRW per preschool class operating expense ▲ 15,000 KRW per child for educational environment improvement.

A Sejong City official stated, “We plan to continue designating excellent private and home daycare centers that meet the standards as public-type daycare centers,” adding, “Through this, we will steadily expand excellent childcare infrastructure in the region.”
