Director Kim served as the first Minister of Education, Science and Technology under the Lee Myung-bak administration, and has held positions such as president of POSTECH and Ulsan University, chairman of the Korean Academy of Engineering, and chairman of the National Science and Technology Committee. Currently, he is chairman of the Ulsan Industrial Academy Foundation and director of Taejae University, which is scheduled to open in September. Taejae University operates without a separate campus; students reside in Korea, the United States, China, Japan, and Russia while attending online classes and conducting field-centered projects. It has attracted attention in the education sector by benchmarking the educational model of Minerva University in the United States, recognized as a global innovative university.

On this day, Director Kim discussed how universities should prepare education for the future during the Leaders Forum lecture attended by university presidents and educational administrative leaders from around the world.

Kim said, "It is impossible to predict the future, but what we can clearly understand from the changes we are already facing is that we will live in a super-longevity, super-intelligent, and super-connected society." He predicted, "Young students today will live at least until 120 years old and will experience a tsunami of knowledge and information in a world where everyone is connected without borders or cultural barriers."

He emphasized that in such a rapidly changing future, only those who continuously learn will have competitiveness. Therefore, university education should shift to a system that cultivates not 'learned ones' but 'life-long learners.' He also argued that cooperation with others will become more important, so teamwork should be further encouraged.

Finally, quoting Albert Einstein's saying, "The only source of knowledge is experience," and Leonardo da Vinci's, "Wisdom is the daughter of experience," Kim urged a paradigm shift in university education, saying, "For a future defined by super-longevity, super-intelligence, and super-connection, universities must provide students not only with knowledge but also with wisdom. Universities should open their doors wide and educate students so they can gain practical experience in various fields of society."

Meanwhile, Samyook University celebrated its 117th anniversary by hosting the international academic conference '2023 ICISAA (International Conference of ISAA and Leaders Forum)' with 128 sister universities worldwide to explore new directions for future education development. This is the first international academic conference of the International Society for Academic Advancement (ISAA), founded last year under the leadership of Samyook University.

Under the main theme "Sharing Academic Inspiration with the World," the conference was held from the 8th to the 10th on campus in a hybrid format of in-person and online participation. Over 600 scholars, experts, researchers, and students from more than 40 countries participated to exchange academic knowledge. The main sessions of the conference were broadcast live on YouTube.
