Yongsan-gu Holds Countermeasure Meeting for Typhoon No. 6 'Khanun'

Yongsan-gu (Mayor Park Hee-young) held a countermeasure meeting against Typhoon No. 6 ‘Khanun’ on the 9th at 9:30 AM in the smart video conference room on the 9th floor of the district office.

The meeting, presided over by Mayor Park, was attended by 16 department heads including the Director of the Safety, Construction, and Transportation Bureau.

After receiving a report on the current weather conditions and typhoon trajectory from the Director of the Water Management Division, Mayor Park checked the status of facility inspections by each department.

The main inspection items included ▲shelters for disaster victims (Welfare Policy Division) ▲prevention of tower crane and protective fence overturning and soil runoff at construction sites (Architecture Division, Urban Planning Division) ▲pre-inspection of hazardous facilities in redevelopment zones (Reorganization Project Division) ▲pre-inspection and maintenance of outdoor temporary facilities and shade tents (Safety and Disaster Division) ▲maintenance of banners, outdoor advertisements, and signboards (Construction Management Division) ▲pre-inspection of traffic facilities (Traffic Administration Division) ▲inspection of underground pedestrian underpass drainage (Road Division) ▲inspection of pumping stations and dredging of rainwater inlets (Water Management Division).

The district will shorten the operation period of the temporary water play areas at Hyochang Park and Eungbong Park, which were scheduled to be open until the 10th, by one day. The shade tents at the screening clinic on the basement first floor of the district office have been removed. However, the screening clinic will operate normally.

Mayor Park urged, “Please monitor the real-time weather conditions and prepare by predicting potential damages. In case of emergency, actively use the disaster safety communication network to disseminate information and cooperate so that the response system can be effectively activated.”

The district will hold crisis management working-level meetings twice daily, in the morning and afternoon, until Typhoon No. 6 ‘Khanun’ passes Seoul. Since the 7th, Mayor Park has visited more than ten locations including heat relief shelters and large construction sites to continue surveillance activities against heatwave and typhoon damages.
