In his opening remarks at the meeting, Representative Kim said, "Random attacks indiscriminately targeting unspecified many have occurred one after another, increasing the public's fear," adding, "Serious crimes have also occurred in complex multi-use facilities, raising awareness of safety more than ever."

He stated, "We will promptly complete the enactment of a 'life sentence without parole' law and actively consider introducing measures to ensure definite immunity for issues arising during the suppression of heinous criminals to enable the police to exercise their public authority actively."

Policy Committee Chair Park Dae-chul also said at the meeting, "It seems necessary to review amendments to related laws so that the police can respond with the safety of innocent citizens in mind when dealing with heinous crimes," adding, "We should also discuss ways to expand support for police officers who suffer from various lawsuits."

After the meeting, Chair Park told reporters, "In the short term, we agreed that the social atmosphere should be stabilized quickly through an 'all-out security system,'" and "In the mid to long term, it is necessary to establish punishment regulations that define 'murder threat posts' as a new type of crime."

Regarding the strengthening of immunity for on-site police officers, he added, "There should be no unfairness in the legitimate execution of police duties," and "There was a consensus that manuals should be strengthened or, if necessary, guarantees (immunity) should be provided through legislation."

In addition to the party leadership, the meeting was attended by Lee Man-hee, the ruling party's floor leader of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee, and Kim Kwang-ho, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
