Shinsegae Food Sandwich Sales Also Continue to Rise
Due to the heatwave and rising dining-out prices, the number of people seeking convenience foods has significantly increased.
hy announced on the 7th that sales of its soup and stew products last month increased by 92.3% compared to the same period last year.
The three summer health food products launched by hy in July?'It's On Obok Samgyetang,' 'It's On Siraegi Sagol Chueotang,' and 'It's On Boneless Sagol Galbitang'?surpassed cumulative sales of 250,000 units within one month of release. The company explained that this figure represents a 100.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
The bestseller was It's On Obok Samgyetang, with 140,000 units sold in July alone. This product is made using carefully selected domestic ingredients such as chicken, glutinous rice, fresh ginseng, chestnuts, and jujubes.
It's On Siraegi Sagol Chueotang is made by boiling finely ground domestic loach and radish greens from Yangju with traditional soybean paste, resulting in a rich broth without any fishy smell. It's On Boneless Sagol Galbitang features the tender texture of beef rib meat separated from large ribs, making it a boneless galbitang that anyone can enjoy without burden.
Meanwhile, sales of refrigerated sandwiches from Shinsegae Food, sold at Emart's deli corner and SSG.com, have increased by double digits every year since 2021, with a 32% increase over the past two years.
Shinsegae Food analyzed that the continued heatwave has led to an increase in consumers seeking sandwiches that provide a light and convenient meal without the need for cooking, while also offering balanced nutrition.
Additionally, sales of frozen sandwiches, which can be easily enjoyed at home using an air fryer or microwave, increased by 65% last month compared to the same period in 2021, recording a growth rate twice as high as that of refrigerated sandwiches.
