A man in his 30s who posted a 'murder notice' online and was preparing to carry it out has been arrested and sent to prosecution on charges of attempted murder.

This is the first case where attempted murder charges were applied to someone who posted a murder notice online following the stabbing incident at Sillim Station in Seoul.

According to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency on the 6th, A (33) was sent to prosecution in custody on the 2nd for posting a murder notice and photos of a weapon in a mobile messenger chatroom used by online game users (attempted murder).

On the evening of the 24th of last month, A is accused of announcing in a mobile messenger chatroom that he would kill a specific person, uploading a photo of a weapon he had purchased in advance, and taking preparatory actions to actually carry out the act.

The police responded to a report from a citizen in another region who saw the notice, urgently arrested A at his hideout, and seized the weapon and other tools used in the crime. A admitted to posting the murder notice but denied the intent to actually kill, disputing the attempted murder charges. However, police investigations revealed that A engaged in acts that could be seen as preparation for murder, such as scouting the crime scene and conducting prior reconnaissance.

Meanwhile, a person who prepares or conspires to commit murder can be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
