'Heatwave Emergency' Jamboree... Companies Like Samsung and LG Also Step Up Support

Companies are supporting the normalization of the '2023 World Scout Jamboree' held in Saemangeum, Jeonbuk, by providing bottled water, cool scarves, and portable toilets.

According to the business community on the 6th, Samsung provided a total of 200,000 items, including 100,000 ion drinks and 100,000 vitamin drinks, through the Korean Red Cross on the 4th, and on the 5th, supported medical staff and portable toilets. From the 7th, Samsung will deploy 150 employees and operate a Samsung Electronics factory tour program as part of additional support.

The medical support team, consisting of 11 members including five doctors specializing in pediatrics and adolescent medicine from Samsung Medical Center, four nurses, and two support staff, arrived on-site on the afternoon of the 5th and immediately began medical activities. The Samsung medical support team plans to continue medical volunteer work until the event ends on the 12th.

LG also decided to support 30,000 bottles of water and items such as neck coolers. LG affiliates, including LG Household & Health Care and LG Uplus, joined forces to help Jamboree participants, who are exposed to the heat due to many outdoor activities, prepare for the heatwave and prevent heat-related illnesses.

LG plans to support a total of 50,000 bottles, including 30,000 bottles of water and 20,000 ion drinks. Six refrigerated trucks will also be deployed. LG previously supported 10,000 neck coolers, portable fans, and auxiliary batteries. LG Uplus operates free charging stations throughout the event and provides stable communication services by supporting 5G wireless Wi-Fi routers and wired Wi-Fi.

Economic organizations have also stepped in to help. The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) supported a total of 100,000 frozen bottled waters to Jamboree participants over two days starting from the 5th.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) also urgently supported about 400 large iceboxes at the Saemangeum Jamboree site, which is struggling with an unprecedented heatwave, on the 4th and 5th.
