[Exclusive] Semiconductor and Battery Material Special Logistics Company FoundryW Sells 40% Stake

FoundryW, a comprehensive logistics company specializing in the storage and transportation of hazardous materials such as battery and semiconductor materials, is proceeding with investment attraction through a share sale.

According to the financial investment industry, FoundryW, which specializes in the storage and transportation of hazardous and toxic chemicals, is in the process of selling 40% of its shares.

FoundryW operates specialized logistics warehouses in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and Jinhae, Gyeongsangnam-do (near Busan New Port). The shareholder structure consists of CEO Jang Hyun-joon (37.5%) and CL Group Co., Ltd. (62.5%).

FoundryW owns the Pyeongtaek Special Logistics Center (total floor area 4,200㎡), Jinhae Special Logistics Center (total floor area 5,300㎡), and the Anseong Special Logistics Center (planned construction). When occupancy reaches 95%, mostly filled with pallet (PLT) unit storage space, the Pyeongtaek and Jinhae logistics centers are expected to generate sales of 8.5 to 9 billion KRW and 4.5 to 5 billion KRW respectively. As of the first half of this year, the PLT occupancy rate was 85% at the Pyeongtaek logistics center and 71% at the Jinhae logistics center.

Special logistics refers to logistics handling public procurement, nuclear power, military supplies, cold chain, hazardous materials, toxic chemicals, high-pressure gases, project cargo, and other generally hard-to-access cargo. In particular, hazardous materials, toxic chemicals, and high-pressure gases require a high level of expertise and strict facility standards. Although the difficulty and entry barriers are high, market demand continues to steadily increase.

One of the most representative items with increasing demand in the special cargo sector recently is batteries used in electric vehicles. The main raw materials for battery cathodes are nickel, cobalt, and manganese (NCM), which are toxic substances among hazardous chemicals, and the electrolyte is lithium-ion. Lithium-ion batteries also contain some aluminum, a Class 2 hazardous flammable solid. The battery market is expected to start at 1000 GWh in 2025 and reach 2740 GWh by 2030, making growth in the related special logistics market highly likely.
