Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong Visits Saemangeum Jamboree Hospital to Inspect Medical Response

At the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree, which opened amid a heatwave, cases of heat-related illnesses are rapidly increasing. On the 4th, Cho Kyu-hong, Minister of Health and Welfare, visited the Jamboree hospital to inspect the medical response situation.

The Jamboree hospital, set up in the Saemangeum Jamboree site in Jeonbuk, is one of the on-site medical systems operated by the Jamboree Organizing Committee to provide medical services. It has been operating 24 hours a day since the end of July for patients who have suffered serious injuries or require specialized treatment or hospitalization.

Patients who cannot be fully treated at the hub clinic, which serves as a primary medical institution, or at the emergency medical posts are transferred to the Jamboree hospital. If treatment is still difficult at the Jamboree hospital, patients are transferred to cooperating hospitals such as Jeonbuk National University Hospital, Wonkwang University Hospital, Gunsan Medical Center, Yesu Hospital, and Jeonju Hospital. On this day, Minister Cho met with Han Dong-su, director of the Jamboree hospital, and medical staff to hear about the medical operations during the event and to confirm any support needs.

He also inspected the mobile hospital, which is being used as hospital beds and accommodation for medical staff at the Jamboree hospital.

Minister Cho stated, "With a sharp increase in patients suffering from heat-related and skin diseases, we will utilize hospital beds efficiently," adding, "To prepare for mass casualty incidents, we will operate on-site emergency medical posts and check the coordination with external emergency medical institutions."
