Full Tuition-Free Curriculum... 'Seoul Drone Academy 2nd Cohort' Training to be Held on August 14

Seoul City-Sponsored 'Drone Developer' Training Program Receives Great Response

With the development of the drone industry and the urgent need for professional workforce training, Seoul City is conducting the 'Seoul Drone Academy Program' to cultivate drone developers.

The Seoul Drone Academy Program is hosted by Seoul City and operated by JS Convergence Education Co., Ltd., aiming to train 102 people in 2023 following the training of 100 people in 2022.

Unlike existing drone education programs that were limited to training drone operators, the Seoul Drone Academy curriculum is a practical, integrated project course that covers everything from drone hardware manufacturing to autonomous driving through software programming, as well as entrepreneurial mentoring for employment and startup preparation, receiving great responses from drone industry workers and job seekers.

A notable feature of the Seoul Drone Academy is providing each participant with a Mango Board (mini computer), enabling them to connect various sensors (distance sensor, ultrasonic sensor, camera, LiDAR, etc.) to create drones with diverse functions.

The first cohort of the Seoul Drone Academy, which has already completed training, selected 34 participants from a competitive pool with a ratio of 2.3:1, and 33 of them completed the course, demonstrating the trainees' passion and dedication to education.

According to Kwon Hyuk-bae (a first cohort trainee in 2023), “As the drone field, once centered on aerospace and military sectors, prepares for the upcoming UAM era and approaches our daily lives, people of various ages and diverse backgrounds are showing interest and receiving education. The six-week intensive course, with eight hours of training per day, has a broad spectrum and valuable integrated education. I believe this program holds precious value as a convergence education.” He added, “For everyone participating in the education?from freshmen university students to retirees planning their second life?this course will help not only with drones but also in understanding and solving many real-world problems.”
