Illegal Filming of Female Campers in Shower Room... Suspect Identified as 'Owner's Son'

Famous Pet Dog Camping Site Manager Illegally Films Visitors
Victim Shows Anxiety Symptoms... "Is It Over If the Owner's Son Is Fired?"

A man in his 30s who was illegally filming users in the shower room of a famous pet-friendly camping site was caught by the police, and it was revealed that he is the son of the camping site owner.

On the 3rd, the police booked a man in his 30s, identified as A, who manages the camping site, without detention on suspicion of secretly filming a woman’s body (violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes). A is suspected of secretly filming a woman in her 30s, B, with his cellphone through a window in the shower room of a camping site located in Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, at around 11:30 p.m. on the 31st of last month.

According to B, she went to the camping site shower room to take a shower at 10:06 p.m. that day, and the glass window inside was open. B thought it was opened inevitably due to the humidity and started showering.

However, while washing her hair, she felt something strange and turned around to find a cellphone filming her through the gap of the open window. Startled, she screamed twice on the spot, and two women nearby rushed to the scene to help her.

After receiving B’s report, the police checked the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and found that A is the son of the couple who directly operate the camping site and is responsible for managing the camping site facilities.

B claimed, “Right after the crime, A acted as if he ‘knew who it was’ and said ‘I think they went toward the valley,’ denying the crime,” adding, “During the police investigation, he tried to submit a different phone instead of the one used for illegal filming.”

She continued, “After the incident, I felt like someone was watching me even at home, and my anxiety worsened, so I went to the hospital,” and appealed, “The camping site where the crime occurred has been operating normally without any notice until now. That is very outrageous.”

The police said, “A admitted to the illegal filming charges during the investigation,” and “We are currently checking through digital forensics whether there are additional victims.”

However, users of the camping site are expressing anxiety. Since it is a famous camping site that allows dogs, many users have visited multiple times. On social media, people shared the news of the incident with comments such as, “I remember last time I went, no one was in the shower room and the window was wide open, which felt uncomfortable,” “He is the son of the owner, so will firing him be the end?” and “Deleting his SNS account and continuing business is creepy.”

The camping site posted on its website that day, “We sincerely apologize to the victim for the controversy caused by the recent illegal filming incident at the camping site, and we are sorry to the visitors who come to our camping site,” adding, “The employee was immediately dismissed, and we are actively cooperating with the police investigation.”
