Despite difficult economic conditions, Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee)'s efforts to create customized jobs and revitalize the local economy were highly praised.

On the 2nd, Gwanak-gu was honored to win the ‘2023 Employment Award’ hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor for two consecutive years at the Government Sejong Convention Center in Sejong City.

With this award, the district secured a financial incentive of 70 million KRW as ‘incentive project funds and capacity-building project funds’ along with the Minister’s Award.

The ‘Employment Award’ is Korea’s representative regional employment award ceremony held annually by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to promote the efforts and achievements of 243 local governments nationwide in job creation, continuing since 2012.

With the value of ‘Shared Value, Happier Together Gwanak-type Job Economy,’ the district made every effort and created 10,831 jobs in 2022.

In particular, by successfully promoting the ‘Gwanak S-Valley’ project to transform Gwanak, once a barren land for startups, into a ‘venture startup city,’ the district established 16 startup infrastructure facilities, currently employing 1,014 people across 126 startup companies, showing remarkable results in creating quality jobs.

Additionally, the district was recognized for various efforts to revitalize the local economy, including ▲‘Youth Policy Infrastructure Establishment’ for jobs, housing, culture, welfare, and communication for young people such as Gwanak Youth Center ▲‘Gwanak-type Artterior,’ which provides jobs to local artists and opportunities for small business owners to improve store designs ▲and the largest ‘Public Jobs for Livelihood Stability’ in the Seoul area.

Mayor Park Junhee said, “I am very pleased to receive the Employment Award for two consecutive years as a result of continuous efforts focusing on the economic sector as the Economic District Mayor,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create quality jobs through attracting more than 1,000 venture companies, establishing the Small and Medium Venture Promotion Agency, and founding a Job Stock Company.”
