Goseong-gun Increases Taxi Base Fare from 4,300 Won to 5,000 Won

The base fare for taxis in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province will be adjusted to 5,000 won starting from 4 a.m. on the 5th.


The county is proceeding with administrative procedures after deliberation by the Goseong-gun Price Countermeasures Committee to raise the base fare from the existing 4,300 won to 5,000 won, an increase of 700 won, in accordance with the changes in taxi fares and rates implemented by Gyeongsangnam-do.

Accordingly, the taxi base fare will be adjusted to 5,000 won, a 700 won increase for the first time in four years since 2019, and ▲the basic unit for distance fare will change from 133m to 130m, ▲the basic unit for time fare will change from 34 seconds to 31 seconds, and ▲the late-night surcharge hours will change from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the next day.


The 20% late-night surcharge and the 30% surcharge for driving outside the county boundary remain the same as before.


The increased taxi fare will be applied to taxis whose meters have been repaired and verified, and until the meter repair and verification are completed, fares will be charged according to the fare conversion chart posted inside the taxi.


Jung Gang-ho, Director of Urban Transportation, said, “Since this is the first taxi fare increase in four years, we reviewed the fare adjustment to a level that satisfies both taxi companies and residents,” adding, “We will do our best to improve service through continuous education and administrative guidance in consultation with taxi companies to minimize residents’ complaints about the fare increase.”
