Lotte Shopping will open 'Lotte Mall Westlake Hanoi' in Hanoi, Vietnam on the 28th, expanding its presence in the Asian market. Lotte Mall Westlake is a mega commercial complex housing a shopping mall, mart, hotel, aquarium, and cinema, making it the largest facility of its kind in the new urban area of West Lake (Seohu), the center of Hanoi. After a soft opening on the 28th for trial operations, the mall is scheduled for a grand opening on September 22 with enhanced completeness.

Mobilizing Capabilities in Distribution, Tourism, Leisure, and Construction... A Landmark in Vietnam

Lotte Mall Westlake is a large-scale project that brings together the capabilities of Lotte affiliates in distribution, tourism, leisure, and construction. The total floor area of the complex is approximately 354,000㎡ (about 107,000 pyeong), equivalent to the size of 50 soccer fields, making it the largest retail facility locally. It will offer a new experience to both Vietnamese locals and foreign tourists with a variety of content including the largest premium shopping mall in the area, a grocery-focused mart, a 5-star hotel with premium facilities and services, the largest aquarium in the region, and a cinema equipped with top-tier amenities.


Lotte Mall Westlake is named after West Lake (Seohu), the largest lake in Hanoi that stretches in front of the complex, reflecting the ambition to become Vietnam’s premier landmark. The area near West Lake, where the mall is located, is a traditional affluent neighborhood in Vietnam, with ongoing development of nearby new urban areas, expected to grow into Hanoi’s largest central business district. The geographical feature of a large commercial complex near a lake is reminiscent of Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, Songpa-gu, Seoul. Since West Lake is a popular tourist spot for young generations and families in Hanoi, Lotte Shopping expects Lotte Mall Westlake to become a Hanoi landmark where nature, shopping, and cultural experiences coexist, similar to Jamsil Lotte World Mall by Seokchon Lake. It is also anticipated to create employment for more than 3,000 people.


Embedding Korean Content DNA... Shopping Mall Targeting Young Families and Youth

The main facility, the shopping mall, spans seven floors from basement level 2 to the 5th floor, housing a total of 233 stores. On the first floor, flagship stores of global brands such as Chanel and Dior will open their first boutique-style cosmetic stores in Vietnam, alongside large flagship stores of global brands like Nike Rise and Samsung Experience. The second floor will feature popular sports stores such as Adidas and New Balance, as well as global young fashion brands like Marks & Spencer and Pull & Bear. The third floor will host 'TAT Golf,' a store gathering famous golf equipment and apparel from around the world, along with various kids’ stores. A food hall featuring popular local Vietnamese eateries and a Korean specialty restaurant zone will also be introduced. The fourth and fifth floors will include a complex cultural space for various cultural activities, a cinema, and a kids’ zone for entertainment. Lotte Mart and Lotte World Aquarium will open on basement levels 1 and 2. The shopping mall’s total floor area is about 222,000㎡ (approximately 67,000 pyeong), accounting for more than 60% of the entire complex.


Reflecting the characteristics of the West Lake commercial district, which attracts a high influx of young people, many new brands will be introduced. There will be 25 brands debuting in Vietnam, 28 brands opening for the first time in Hanoi, and 32 flagship concept stores, making up about 40% of the total 85 stores, designed to represent the region. This reflects the preferences of trend-sensitive young customers in the store composition. The Vietnam-first children’s job experience theme park 'Kidzania' and the indoor playground 'Champion1250' are expected to receive great responses from family customers. A complex cultural space filled with a bookstore, gallery, and cooking studio will also be prepared, covering about 4,500㎡ (approximately 1,400 pyeong).

"90% Groceries"... Mart as an 'Innovative Grocery Store'

On basement level 1, Lotte Mart will occupy about 4,300㎡ (approximately 1,300 pyeong). It is an 'innovative grocery store' with up to 90% of its sales area dedicated to groceries, organized into differentiated product zones. The fresh food specialty section will be stocked with high-quality and fresh products such as Korean direct-imported fruits, premium imported meats, and air-flown salmon. The deli specialty section will sell various K-food ready meals and representative Korean dishes like tteokbokki, gimbap, and seasoned chicken. To differentiate processed foods, there will be 'Lotte Station' selling Lotte Mart’s private brand (PB) and Lotte Wellfood products, 'Noodle Station' with over 500 types of ramen, and 'Gift Station' targeting tourists.


Lotte Mart’s wine specialty store 'Bottle Bunker' will also open on the first floor, covering about 800㎡ (approximately 240 pyeong). Making its overseas debut, Bottle Bunker is Vietnam’s first and largest 'mega wine shop,' handling over 2,500 types of wine as well as about 3,500 types of alcoholic beverages including whiskey and brandy, along with specialized alcohol accessories. It is the first in Vietnam to introduce 'tasting taps' allowing customers to sample wines. Based on experience and expertise operating Bottle Bunker stores domestically, the store aims to lead the wine and whiskey market, which is growing in popularity among Vietnam’s young generation. Lotte Mart and Bottle Bunker plan to start official operations on September 8.


Hotel Brand L7 and Lotte World Aquarium Make First Overseas Entry

On both sides of the shopping mall, a 23-story hotel and office building will be constructed. Lotte Hotel will introduce its first overseas L7 hotel, 'L7 by Lotte West Lake Hanoi,' built as a complex combining two 23-story towers. The hotel consists of 264 rooms and 192 residences, offering panoramic views of West Lake and the Red River from the rooms. L7 by Lotte West Lake Hanoi is not only the first overseas location of Lotte Hotel’s lifestyle brand L7 but will also provide 5-star facilities and services, unlike the 4-star service level offered by domestic L7 hotels. It plans to welcome guests with various amenities including a club lounge, infinity pool, premium food and beverage (F&B) facilities, fitness center, and kids caf?.


Lotte World will also open its first overseas location, 'Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi.' Covering about 9,000㎡ (approximately 2,750 pyeong) with a 3,400-ton tank, it is the largest aquarium in the heart of Vietnam’s city. It houses about 400 species and 31,000 marine animals including sand tiger sharks, Humboldt penguins, and sea lions. The main tank, home to about 10,000 marine animals, features Vietnam’s first and largest curved acrylic panel measuring 18 meters wide and 5.8 meters high. It is expected to attract about one million visitors annually, including locals and foreigners. Lotte World Aquarium Hanoi will officially open on August 1.


Lotte Cultureworks will open Lotte Cinema with 9 theaters and 1,007 seats, equipped with premium facilities. Two premium screening rooms called 'Charlotte' and two 'Recliner' theaters with all seats fitted with recliner chairs will be provided for enhanced comfort and luxury.


Kim Sanghyun, Vice Chairman and Head of Lotte Distribution Group, said, "We will make Lotte Mall Westlake Hanoi the most iconic landmark that comes to mind when thinking of Vietnam," adding, "Through Lotte Mall Westlake, Lotte Shopping will leap beyond being Korea’s number one shopping destination to become Asia’s number one shopping destination."
