Kookmin University (President Lim Hong-jae) announced on the 21st that its student startup companies Fractal FN Co., Ltd. and Ekkne Co., Ltd. have each secured seed investments of 300 million KRW and 100 million KRW, respectively.

Fractal FN Co., Ltd. (CEO Moon Myung-duk), a student startup company at Kookmin University, is a startup building an innovative supplier platform where various investment strategies can coexist through the development of a copy trading service utilizing token securities technology. Fractal FN secured a total of 300 million KRW in seed investment by gaining recognition for its business model from Sopung Ventures, The Ventures, and Next Unicorn Investment Association, investment firms that discover and support outstanding startups.

Another student startup, Ekkne Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Min-ho), launched ‘Tugohada,’ a story content creator-producer matching service, and has achieved 52,000 users and 15,000 MAU to date, making it a promising startup. Recognizing these achievements and growth potential, Ekkne was selected for the 21st acceleration program operated by SparkLabs, a well-known domestic startup accelerator (AC), and secured 100 million KRW in seed investment. Through this program, Ekkne will receive initial funding of 100 million KRW and participate in an approximately 18-week acceleration program, culminating in a demo day presentation for follow-up investment attraction.

These companies gained attention for their outstanding business ideas and creative business models by participating in the ‘Kookmin University 2022 K-ON Tact Demo Day’ held last year. In particular, Ekkne won the grand prize at the ‘2023 Kookmin University Kookmin*Startup Competition,’ and Fractal FN received the grand prize at the ‘2023 Eunpyeong Startup League,’ recognizing the promising nature of their businesses.

Kookmin University expects that these successful cases of seed investment attraction by student startups within the university will greatly contribute to revitalizing the student startup ecosystem. Oh Ha-ryeong, CEO of Kookmin University Technology Holdings (Vice President of Industry-Academic Research and Director of the LINC3.0 Project Group), stated, “We will continue to hold various startup support events to create excellent startup success cases,” and added, “We will keep considering follow-up support measures that can provide practical help to faculty and student startup companies.”
