Earlier that day, the Ethics Advisory Committee of the National Assembly's Special Ethics Committee recommended severe disciplinary action, including expulsion from the National Assembly, against lawmaker Kim, who is suspected of large-scale cryptocurrency investments.

She evaluated, "The National Assembly Ethics Advisory Committee recommended 'expulsion from the parliamentary seat' for lawmaker Kim Nam-guk," adding, "It was a fully expected and natural decision."

Lee said, "The advisory committee did not disclose the amount or frequency of Kim's coin transactions, but one media outlet reported that Kim conducted over 200 coin transactions during standing committee meetings," and she added, "I expect a wise decision from lawmaker Kim Nam-guk."

Meanwhile, when the advisory committee issues a disciplinary opinion, the special committee refers the disciplinary proposal to the disciplinary review subcommittee for deliberation, and then the full committee makes the final decision on the level of discipline. The special committee's disciplinary proposal is finalized through a plenary session vote. The required quorum for approval is two-thirds of the total members.
