Dobong-gu Installs and Operates Heat Escape Refrigerators Providing Refreshing Ice Water

Operating from July 19 to August 16 at Seven Locations Along Local Streams and Urban Parks

Using Label-Free Water Bottles to Promote Environmental Protection and Recycling

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced the resumption of the heat escape ‘Bongdalsem Refrigerator’ project, which provides refreshing ice water to protect the health and safety of residents during outdoor activities in the heat, and will operate it until August 16.

The Bongdalsem Refrigerators are located at seven sites within the district: under Nowon Bridge on Jungnangcheon Stream, in front of Seowon Apartment Building 105 on Jungnangcheon Stream, under Changdong Bridge on Jungnangcheon Stream, under Ui 3 Bridge on Uicheon Stream, around Suyu Bridge on Uicheon Stream, at the entrance of Bambgeo Children’s Park, and inside Balbadak Park. Anyone exhausted by the heat can use them.

To ensure hygienic management of the Bongdalsem Refrigerators, the district will operate a volunteer group called the ‘Refrigerator Keepers,’ formed by the district’s Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps, as it did last year.

The Refrigerator Keepers volunteer group will stock label-free water bottles five times a day at two-hour intervals, distributing one bottle per person. Additionally, dedicated recycling bins for the Bongdalsem Refrigerators will be installed and collected to contribute to environmental protection and the promotion of recycling.

Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “I hope the cool ice water will help relieve the heat from outdoor activities even for a moment,” and added, “We will make every effort to prevent heat-related damage so that all residents can spend this summer healthily and safely.”
