The National Gwangju Science Museum is hosting a special exhibition titled 'Let’s Play' to celebrate the summer vacation.
From the 25th of this month until the 27th of next month, the Gwangju Science Museum will hold a special exhibition in the planned exhibition hall, featuring over 40 interactive experiences centered around the theme of play.
In the 'Nation of Play' zone, which explores traditional Korean games through the ages, visitors can experience games enjoyed by our ancestors long ago, such as Jureonggu and Ssangnyuk, as well as alley games popular among the 70s and 80s generations, including Squid Game.
The 'Play and Rules' zone, composed of games that enhance interest and enjoyment through rules, offers experiences such as mission board games where the whole family can create new rules together, large-scale Gomoku and Alkkagi, unique sports games where having no rules is the rule, and a giant maze where players solve problems without correct answers to find their way.
In particular, thrilling activities like trampolining and paragliding are available, which are expected to receive enthusiastic responses from visitors.
Additionally, the 'Play and Art' zone offers creative experiences that boost imagination, such as making Tonycher (science box) artworks using various tools and shadow play.
The 'Future of Play' zone allows visitors to experience the future of play evolving through science and technology, including virtual reality, augmented reality games, and motion recognition play.
Especially in August, a family party themed as an exciting family sports day will be held in connection with the special exhibition, and an educational program for making a ‘claw machine’ specially planned for this exhibition will also be operated.
Deputy Director Jeon Tae-ho said, “We prepared this exhibition so that families can enjoy spending time together through play during the summer vacation season.”
