Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held a briefing session on the ‘Fashion and Apparel Startup Club Support Project’ on the 18th for prospective entrepreneurs in the fashion and apparel sector.

The ‘Fashion and Apparel Startup Club Support Project’ is a new initiative launched this year by the Seongbuk-gu Fashion Sewing Support Center.

It provides support for facilities (equipment) and workspaces at the center to prospective entrepreneurs in fashion and apparel who face difficulties in starting their businesses, offering customized step-by-step support services necessary for startup preparation such as sample production and startup consulting.

The startup clubs recruit a total of 4 teams (each consisting of up to 5 members), 16 people in total, targeting graduates of the special sewing technology training at the Seongbuk-gu Fashion Sewing Support Center and university students (current and alumni) majoring in fashion and apparel in the region. The activities will continue until the end of November.

Participants experience the clothing manufacturing process by visiting local garment manufacturers, receive various education necessary for startups such as sample production, sales participation, startup consulting, and CEO training. Club activities are conducted as autonomous community activities by each team, and a performance report is submitted at the end of the project.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “Through this startup club support project, we expect to increase accessibility and motivation for local youth and prospective fashion and apparel entrepreneurs, promote startup activation, and contribute to job creation.”

The Seongbuk-gu Fashion Sewing Support Center is operated under consignment by the Seoul Fashion Textile Sewing Association. It supports stable business activities of small sewing industry entrepreneurs through equipment rental support projects and CEO training for garment sewing companies, contributing to employment creation and regional economic revitalization by fostering customized sewing skilled workers.
