Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, presided over a video conference of the Flood and Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and the chiefs of 14 Dong Community Centers in the mayor's office on the 17th in response to nationwide heavy rainfall.
During the meeting, Mayor Oh instructed an emergency inspection of four underground passages in the area to prevent damage caused by heavy rain, related to the Osong underground passage accident, and requested focused inspections of disaster-prone areas such as landslide risk zones, habitual flood areas, construction sites, and rainwater inlets.
He also asked the Dong Community Centers to directly visit flood-vulnerable households, such as semi-basement households, to check on their safety and prevent accidents.
Furthermore, he emphasized proactive responses to disasters and emergencies, prioritizing the safety and lives of residents, and instructed organic cooperation between departments and prompt actions when residents report complaints or incidents.
