Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Yoon Byung-tae) announced on the 17th that it will accept applications for learner participation in the ‘Naju愛 Learning Voucher’ for citizens aged 19 and over from the 20th of this month until the 10th of next month.
The Naju愛 Learning Voucher focuses on guaranteeing universal lifelong learning rights for the development of individual citizens' capabilities and is promoted as a pledge project of the 8th local government administration.
Among local governments in the province, Naju City is the first to implement its own voucher project related to lifelong learning.
Through the application process, the city will support 2,500 selected citizens with a lifelong learning exclusive voucher card (Gwangju Bank) worth 150,000 KRW, which can be used until the end of this year.
Applications can be made online through the Naju City Lifelong Learning Information Center website. For in-person applications, citizens can visit the Eup/Myeon/Dong administrative welfare centers with their ID cards until the 8th of next month.
However, citizens who are receiving support from national scholarships, national lifelong education vouchers, the National Tomorrow Learning Card, Jeonnam Youth Culture Welfare Card, Munhwa Nuri Card, or Jeonnam Women Farmers Happiness Voucher cannot apply simultaneously.
The final selected applicants can check their status on the Naju City Lifelong Learning Information Center website on the 25th of next month, and individual notifications will also be sent via text message.
If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, selections will be made randomly through an online public lottery.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae stated, “We will provide citizens with extensive lifelong learning opportunities beyond simple learning, tailored to individual tastes and specialties in culture, arts, leisure, and sports, so that life quality can be enriched even outside metropolitan areas.”
Meanwhile, the city signed a business agreement with Gwangju Bank in April for the issuance and management of the voucher cards.
Applications for places to use the voucher cards to diversify lifelong learning are also being accepted year-round.
The target institutions are those operating educational programs for citizens aged 19 and over and can accept payment of tuition fees via the voucher card.
Institutions can register as usage places by applying on the Naju City Lifelong Learning Information Center website. Registration requires a program operation plan and a business registration certificate or educational institution registration certificate showing that the business type is registered as an educational service.
However, entertainment fields such as golf, billiards, bowling, and educational institutions operating as driving license schools, tutoring academies, or private tutoring are excluded.
