"A course to take a walk around Boramae Park, a green recreational area in Seoul." This is the overall summary of the subway walking path introduced this time. The starting point is Exit 6 of Boramae Station on Subway Line 7. Sindebang-dong in Dongjak-gu, where Boramae Station is located, consists of green spaces and residential areas, with about one-quarter of the area made up of parks. First, if you walk straight from Exit 6, you will come across Daebang Elementary School, and around here is a cultural heritage site, the tomb site of Yeollyeonggun, a son of King Sukjong. In fact, there is no stele (a monument erected in front of a tomb recording a person's life achievements) remaining here, but the inscription on the wall of Daebang Elementary School proves that this was the old tomb site.
Afterwards, turn your steps toward Exit 2. On the way to Boramae Park, you can see the Nongshim Building, which houses the headquarters of Nongshim Group affiliates. Passing this place, you will see the Boramae Park information board across the street. "Boramae" refers to a trained hawk under one year old used for falconry, and it is commonly known as a nickname for the Republic of Korea Air Force. Boramae Park was created as a green recreational area for citizens in 1985 when the Air Force Academy relocated to Cheongju. The park has many attractions such as zelkova trees, a lake, and an old model airplane. If you want to use the "Safety Experience Center," a space for disaster prevention training, you need to make a reservation in advance. However, the museum can be visited without a reservation.
After leaving the Safety Experience Center, if you walk about 200 meters to the right from the front of the lake, you will encounter the Boramae Trail. The slope is gentle and the section is short, making it a beloved light walking course among residents. Next to it is the Boramae Buddhist Temple, the first Air Force temple built in 1971. Although it is a military religious facility, it is widely used as a religious facility for residents as well. After exploring everything, exit to the residential area and head to Exit 4 of Sindebang Station on Line 2 to finish today's course.
