Discovering Talented Individuals with Excellent IT Skills
Establishing a Foundation for Social Advancement of People with Disabilities
On the 14th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held the "23rd Gyeongbuk Disabled IT Festival" at Gumi University, hosted by the Korea Transportation Disabled Association Gyeongbuk Branch (Chairman Kim Rak-hwan), with over 500 participants including disabled individuals and their families from across Gyeongbuk Province.
The event, aimed at discovering outstanding disabled IT talents and laying the foundation for their social advancement, featured an informatization competition divided into adult and student categories. A total of 45 awardees were recognized, including winners in the computer utilization essay category selected through a prior contest, as well as recipients of the Gumi Mayor's Award and the National Assembly Member's Award in both adult and student divisions.
Deputy Mayor Kim Ho-seop stated, "Through this competition, I hope the informatization skills of disabled individuals will be further enhanced, and that it will serve as an opportunity to lead social innovation and regional development." He added, "I applaud the passion of all participants who demonstrated outstanding skills despite difficult circumstances."
The Korea Transportation Disabled Association Gyeongbuk Branch was established in 1995 to prevent disabilities caused by traffic accidents and to contribute to the welfare of disabled individuals, taking a leading role in improving the rights and interests of the disabled.
