Eunpyeong-gu Youth Mental Health Center 'MaeumOn' Opens

Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 12th that it has opened the Youth Mental Health Center ‘MaeumOn’.

The opening ceremony was held with about 30 attendees, including Mayor Kim Mi-kyung of Eunpyeong-gu, the head of the public health center, Eunpyeong-gu council members, youth-related organizations, and local residents.

The Youth Mental Health Center ‘MaeumOn’ is located within the Eungam Public Health Branch of Eunpyeong-gu and serves as a specialized mental health service institution for youth, aimed at stabilizing and helping recover young people exhausted by intensifying competition and academic stress.

‘MaeumOn’ means the switch “On” that lights up the body and mind of youth, and “On (溫)” representing a warm space for their body and mind. It provides a free space where youth tired from academics, interpersonal relationships, and other pressures can communicate.

As part of welfare projects for youth in Eunpyeong, the district has prepared MaeumOn as a core task for youth mental health to create a “Good Eunpyeong for Raising Children.” Since last year, this has involved local surveys, visits to exemplary institutions, gathering residents’ opinions, and consultations with youth experts.

Mayor Kim Mi-kyung of Eunpyeong-gu said, “We will create a society where children can live well by establishing a systematic psychological support system,” and added, “We will continue to show great interest and provide generous support for children’s mental health.”
