Gwangju Nam-gu Exchanges 'Media Art' with Public Institutions in Busan Area

Nam-gu announced on the 10th that it recently signed a media art exchange business agreement with Busan City to revitalize cultural exchange between public institutions in the Yeongnam and Honam regions through media art and to provide Gwangju citizens with opportunities to view high-quality works.

This agreement was established to offer residents of Nam-gu and Busan the opportunity to enjoy media art fusion works and to exchange know-how and outcomes related to media art production and operation promoted by the two institutions.

It is also intended to share information about media art-related exhibitions and contests held by Nam-gu and Busan City.

Nam-gu and Busan City will exchange three media art works owned by each local government.

The works provided by Busan City are "flutter tree," "Stair Waterfall," and "Grand Bleu," while Nam-gu will provide Busan City with "Brilliant Memory," "Symphony of Light," and "Dragon of Nam-gu."

Nam-gu plans to soon unveil the three works to Gwangju citizens through a media wall.

Earlier, since April, Nam-gu has also been working on media art cooperative exhibitions with the National Maritime Museum located in Busan, lending the work "War and Peace: From the Imjin War to the Joseon Tongsinsa Route," which is in the museum’s collection, free of charge for public display.

This work is a six-minute video that is highly regarded as a masterpiece capturing the journey and exchange records from the Imjin War to the Joseon Tongsinsa route, centered on the theme of war and peace.

A Nam-gu official stated, "Through mutual cooperation with public institutions, we will strive to revitalize cultural facilities in each region and provide diverse fusion art content so that local residents can enjoy high-quality cultural life, and we will do our best to promote related tasks."
