Office worker Choi Seong-hoon (30) is planning a trip to Southeast Asia for his summer vacation this year. Although the price of airline tickets was more expensive than expected due to the surge in demand following the endemic (periodic outbreak of infectious diseases), he is very excited about the rare opportunity to travel abroad. To fully embrace the travel vibe, he purchased matching Hawaiian shirts with his girlfriend and is eagerly counting down the days until his vacation next month.
According to the industry on the 8th, major fashion companies are launching summer season collections such as vacation looks and resort looks targeting travelers during this vacation season, and are introducing new services in collaboration with travel agencies.
For example, lifestyle company LF introduced an airline ticket reservation service on its premium lifestyle platform 'LF Mall' in January and is showcasing recommended products tailored to various travel themes. LF Mall is also holding an event until the 10th in collaboration with the hotel search platform 'HotelsCombined' to recommend vacation looks by travel destination.
LF’s flagship brand 'Hazzys' unveils various Hawaiian shirt lines every summer. Hawaiian shirts are products featuring bold floral or palm leaf patterns in vivid colors that resemble Hawaiian scenery. With the increase in overseas travel demand, sales of Hazzys’ Hawaiian shirts and pants set-up lines in May and June this year rose by 160% compared to the same period last year.
An LF Hazzys representative said, "Traditional Hawaiian shirts were once considered 'dad fashion for traveling abroad' and were far from trendy, but nowadays among younger generations, they are gaining attention as fashion items that make you feel like you are on a trip even when worn in daily life, not just while traveling."
The British classic brand 'Daks' also introduced a new summer resort look with a check pattern created in collaboration with graphic artist Lee Deok-hyung for this summer season. The lineup mainly consists of shirts, graphic embroidered T-shirts, and dresses made with refreshing materials and colors that evoke the atmosphere of travel destinations.
‘Lucky Chouette,’ a young women’s character casual brand operated by Kolon FnC, launched six types of 'Raffia Hats' that block heat and suit resort looks. The raffia hats come in various styles including a round bucket type, a bonnet type fixed with strings at the back or sides, and a wide-brim floppy type. Additionally, Lucky Chouette’s 'Frill Collar Print Slip Dress' is a floral patterned dress in vibrant colors, regarded as a representative item for resort looks.
In addition, Samsung C&T Fashion Division emphasized Bohemian-style resort looks as a core theme. Representative items include dresses, blouses, pants, and skirts featuring floral patterns with structural details such as pleats and ruffles. Especially, the American contemporary brand 'Alice and Olivia' released a collection for the spring and summer season that evokes the fresh scent of flowers. They also introduced various clothing and accessories featuring floral patterns, including a colorful floral tunic blouse emphasizing Bohemian sensibility.
