Checking Preparations for a Leap Forward

Geochang Cultural Foundation in Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam, held the '33rd Geochang International Theater Festival Preparation Report Meeting' on the 4th at the county office's main conference room, attended by about 60 people including County Governor Gu In-mo, Organizing Committee Chairman Park Sang-won, Geochang Cultural Foundation members, auditors, and the theater festival advisory group.

At the meeting, they reviewed the preparation status of the theater festival, including the installation and operation of a specialized stage harmonizing with the natural beauty of Suseungdae and the performance of a professional and differentiated high-quality opening work.

The temporary underwater special stage installed during last year’s theater festival was relocated to allow viewing from any position along the waterfront, and preparations were made to utilize the stage by holding performances every day during the festival period.

Additionally, to address the regret over excellent performance teams only performing once, multiple performances were planned according to the schedule. To compensate for the lack of food and attractions, various side programs were prepared, including the World Folk Museum experience center, food trucks and world food pavilion, a flea market, and an LED photo zone, significantly improving on last year’s shortcomings.

Organizing Committee Chairman Park Sang-won said, “The Geochang International Theater Festival is becoming a world-class outdoor performance festival through high-quality performances and attractions at Suseungdae, which boasts a pristine natural environment. We will do our best to prepare so that the festival can have a future-oriented direction through exchanges among theater artists and the influx of young theater practitioners.”

Chairman Gu In-mo stated, “We will thoroughly prepare to maximize the advantages of the outdoor stage unique to the Geochang International Theater Festival and create stage productions harmonized with nature, enabling the local festival to transcend its limits and leap into a world-class performance festival.”

Meanwhile, tickets for the International Theater Festival can be purchased on the Geochang International Theater Festival website or at the ticket booth in front of the county office (operating daily from 3 PM to 7 PM from July 3 to August 10).
