Father transported to hospital but passed away
Son found dead at the scene
In Namwon, Jeonbuk, a vehicle driving on a rainy road crashed into a guardrail, resulting in the deaths of a father and son who were in the car.
According to the Namwon Police Station on the 4th, at around 8:30 a.m. that day, a passenger car driven by a man in his 40s, Mr. A, collided with a guardrail on a road in Gwangchi-dong, Namwon City, causing a large fire in the vehicle due to the impact.
At the time, a driver of a car following behind witnessed the accident and reported it to the police. He reportedly rescued Mr. A, who had collapsed inside the smoke-filled vehicle.
Afterwards, firefighters who arrived at the scene extinguished the fire and found Mr. A's teenage son, Mr. B, who had not escaped and was found deceased in the back seat.
Mr. A was also severely injured and transported to the hospital but was reported to have died.
The road where the accident occurred was a downhill slope, and it was reported that rain was falling at a rate of 6.4 mm per hour in Namwon at the time.
The police explained that the vehicle driving on the rainy road appeared to have collided with the guardrail, then hit a traffic sign before coming to a stop.
A police official stated, "It is understood that Mr. A slipped on the rainy road while taking his son to school, which caused the accident," and added, "We are investigating the exact circumstances."
