Coway (CEO Seo Jang-won) announced on the 4th that it has installed a solar power plant on the rooftop of its subsidiary Birextech's building located in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, and has begun full-scale operation.
This solar power plant was installed on an idle rooftop area of the Birextech building, covering an area of 3,832㎡ with a capacity of approximately 800kWh. The expected annual power generation is 966MWh, which is enough capacity for about 270 households to use in one year.
As part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, Coway has installed and operated solar power plants at the Yugu factory (49.5kWh capacity), Incheon factory (39kWh capacity), Pocheon factory (45kWh capacity), and Yugu logistics center (1,048.8kWh capacity). Additionally, under the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% from 2020 levels by 2030 and achieving 100% carbon neutrality by 2050, the company is carrying out various eco-friendly activities.
A Coway official stated, "We are striving to convert a large portion of the electricity used at our business sites to renewable energy such as solar power," and added, "We will continue to take responsibility as a leading eco-friendly company in Korea and do our best to reduce the negative impact on the environment."
