On June 23rd, Seoul City held the ‘Donghaeng Eoullim Square’ event at Seoul Plaza, showcasing technologies that assist vulnerable groups. At the 10 Donghaeng technology company booths, visitors could directly see and experience products designed to help the vulnerable. One of these was ‘Sinor.’ Sinor is a dating and social gathering application exclusively for seniors, prohibiting entry to those under 50 years old. A visitor who tried the Sinor app at the event said, "I used to feel lonely staying at home without hobbies, but after trying the Sinor app, I found it amazing that I could easily make friends without pressure and it tells me whether someone is safe or not. It seems like a great app that brings vitality to life."
Sinor’s main programs are finding close friends and discovering hobbies and leisure activities. Upon joining the app, users are introduced to friends nearby through a location-based matching service. Friends with similar interests are displayed at the top, and users can search by distance and preferred age range. The app includes a contact blocking feature that allows users to operate discreetly without acquaintances knowing. Users don’t need to be familiar with keyboards. The company stated, "With 95% accurate voice-to-text conversion technology, conversations happen instantly," and added, "It’s not a one-sided conversation; you must send a letter and have the chat accepted to start chatting." Users can enjoy various activities such as hobbies, travel, and education with friends in their 50s and 70s. Activities can be enjoyed individually or in groups, as one-time or regular events. Popular activities like travel, education, culture, health, and leisure are also recommended.
The company said it has introduced a five-layer AI ‘Women’s Safety’ feature to block malicious users who engage in romance scams and phishing. This system applies real-time user pattern analysis through facial recognition, keyword filtering, 24-hour monitoring, reporting and blocking, and behavior analysis. Female members receive free chat services, are introduced to 10 friends daily, and are provided with a 050 phone number. The company stated that through real-time AI monitoring, the system strictly manages false information and will continue to strengthen the responsibility of the social entertainment service platform.
Sinor was selected for the ‘Star Ventures X SK Securities Accelerating Program’ and successfully secured seed investment from AUM Ventures. It is also participating in the ‘Technology Donghaeng Network,’ a technology development support project for the vulnerable promoted by Seoul City. The ‘Technology Donghaeng Network’ builds a cooperative network of companies, experts, and public institutions interested in solving social vulnerability issues, sharing goals of cooperation, participation, and expansion, aiming to resolve inconveniences and difficulties faced by vulnerable people in daily life through advanced technology. Companies undertaking technology projects will receive support including a total of 900 million KRW in research and development and demonstration costs (R&D), and participation in the Vulnerable Donghaeng Technology Expo. Kim Minji, CEO of Sinor, said, "With the approach of a super-aged society in 2025, we joined this project with a sense of mission and responsibility as a senior-specialized company," adding, "We will continue to work closely with Seoul City, related companies, experts, and public institutions to improve the quality of life for active seniors and resolve inconvenience issues to the best of our ability."
