Dobong-gu Joins the ‘1,000 Won Breakfast’ Project to Support University Students' Morning Meals
1,000 Won Support per Meal for Duksung Women's University Students from July to November, Total 2,000 Beneficiaries
Project Funding Secured through June Supplementary Budget
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it will cover 1,000 won per meal for the number of diners to ensure that students of Duksung Women's University can benefit from the government, Seoul City, and school collaborative ‘1,000 Won Breakfast’ program.
This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on university students, whose meal expenses have sharply increased due to continuous inflation.
The district secured the necessary budget through the first supplementary budget of 2023 in June and will support 1,000 won per meal for 100 students daily, totaling 2,000 students, at Duksung Women's University, which was selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ ‘1,000 Won Breakfast’ project, from July to November.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, “The health of young people is the future health of Dobong-gu,” adding, “We will continue to invest generously in the healthy future of our youth.”
The ‘1,000 Won Breakfast’ project, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, provides high-quality breakfast meals at 1,000 won to university students with a high rate of breakfast skipping. Duksung Women's University was selected as a participating school in May.
