Heavy Rain Warning Lifted... Crisis Alert Downgraded to 'Interest' and Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Disbanded
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that with the lifting of all heavy rain warnings, the flood and wind disaster crisis alert has been downgraded from 'Caution' to 'Interest' as of 8 a.m. on the 1st, and the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) has lifted Emergency Level 1.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety had activated the CDSCH from 10 p.m. on the 27th due to this heavy rain, and at one point raised the crisis alert level to 'Warning' and the CDSCH emergency response to Level 2. The crisis alert levels progress in the order of Interest - Caution - Warning - Serious, and the CDSCH emergency response levels increase from Level 1 to 3.
According to the CDSCH, there were two casualties caused by this heavy rain. At around 4:43 a.m. the previous day, a house in Yeongju, Gyeongbuk was buried by a landslide, resulting in the death of a 14-month-old girl. In Hampyeong-gun, Jeonnam, a 60-year-old maintenance facility monitor who went out to inspect a sluice gate after river water rose due to heavy rain on the evening of the 27th was reported missing and later found dead.
Currently, there are no active warnings nationwide, and light rain of about 5mm per hour is falling in some parts of Jeju. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the weather nationwide on the 1st is expected to be mostly cloudy, clearing up from the afternoon.
