Kim Eun-kyung, Innovation Committee Chair of the Democratic Party... Declares Assets of 6.2 Billion KRW

Government Official Ethics Committee Discloses Assets of 49 Individuals Including March Retirees, New Appointees, and Promotions

Kim Eun-kyung, former Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service and chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea's Innovation Committee, reported assets worth 6.2 billion KRW. Kim served as Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service during the Moon Jae-in administration in 2020 and completed her term last March after the Yoon Seok-yeol administration took office.


On the 30th, the Government Official Ethics Committee disclosed the assets of a total of 49 high-ranking officials, including 22 retirees in March, 14 newly appointed officials, and 5 promoted officials, including former Deputy Governor Kim.

According to the asset declarations submitted by these officials, former Deputy Governor Kim reported real estate assets worth 5 billion KRW, including an apartment (112.93㎡) in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, and a villa building (242.43㎡) in the same area. In addition, she and her two children held deposits totaling 1.2 billion KRW. Kim is regarded as a pro-Moon figure who became the first female Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service during the Moon administration.


Among the high-ranking officials who declared assets during the same period, Kim Young-tae, director of Seoul National University Hospital, reported the highest assets at 7.3 billion KRW. Director Kim owned apartments in Hoehyeon-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul (176.42㎡), and Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul (122.87㎡) together with his spouse, and family deposits amounted to a total of 4.4 billion KRW.


Former director Kim Yeon-soo of Seoul National University Hospital declared assets worth 6.72 billion KRW. He owned an apartment in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (165.00㎡) and land in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (210.30㎡).


Cho Tae-yong, former ambassador to the United States who returned to Korea in March, reported total assets of 3.7 billion KRW, including a mixed-use residential and commercial building in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul owned by his spouse, and family deposits worth 770 million KRW. Among other high-ranking officials who retired in March, former Suhyup Central Association Chairman Lim Joon-taek declared 32.24 billion KRW, former National Security Office Chief Kim Sung-han declared 5.1 billion KRW, and former Presidential Secretary for Protocol Kim Il-beom declared 2.46 billion KRW in assets.
