BDH Foundation Chairman Baedonghyun Officially Sponsors, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athlete Forum Successfully Concludes

On June 27th, the ‘2023 International Paralympic Committee (hereafter IPC) Athlete Forum,’ officially sponsored by BDH Foundation Chairman Baedonghyun, successfully concluded with a closing ceremony at the Korea Paralympic Committee (hereafter KPC) Icheon Training Center.

Chairman Baedonghyun provided comprehensive support for the successful domestic hosting of this Athlete Forum, including transportation assistance from arrival to departure, meals throughout the event, a welcome dinner, accommodation, and medical support, ensuring an optimal environment for participants to fully focus on the forum.

This forum, held for the first time in Korea, was attended by athletes representing various sports from around the world, as well as IPC Chairperson, Executive Board members, and Secretariat staff who participated in the 95th IPC Executive Board Meeting. Various sessions on topics such as the Paralympic Games, classification, anti-doping, and athlete welfare were conducted to develop and motivate athletes, the core of the Paralympic movement.

The opening ceremony of the Athlete Forum took place on the 25th at the KPC Icheon Training Center auditorium, attended by domestic and international athletes and officials related to disabled sports. The ceremony featured congratulatory remarks from BDH Foundation Chairman Baedonghyun and a keynote speech by KPC President Jeong Jinwan.

Following the opening ceremony, the sessions officially began with an ‘Introduction to IPC (Leadership, Governance, and Services),’ and in the evening, Chairman Baedonghyun hosted a welcome dinner to commemorate the visit of athletes from around the world, providing a meaningful opportunity for dialogue and exchange.

On the evening of the second day, June 26th, a mini-Paralympic ‘Sports Night’ featuring sports that could be enjoyed by athletes with severe disabilities and visual impairments was held at the Icheon Training Center’s multipurpose gymnasium. BDH Foundation Chairman Baedonghyun, IPC Chairperson Andrew Parsons, and KPC President Jeong Jinwan participated alongside athletes representing various countries.

Meanwhile, Chairman Baedonghyun of the BDH Foundation, sponsor of the 2023 IPC Athlete Forum, stated, “I hope that the athletes, who are the core of the Paralympic movement, will move forward toward higher ideals through the various sessions, experiences, and interactions with athletes representing different countries at the 2023 IPC Athlete Forum.”
