Former soccer player Jeon Jun-hyeong achieved his first professional victory.

On the 28th, at the Shine and Podo Course (Par 72, 7,299 yards) of Gyeongbuk Gimcheon Podo CC, Jeon shot a 4-under-par 68 in the final second round of the 2023 Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Srixon (2nd tier) Tour 11th tournament (total prize money 80 million KRW), tying with Jeong Yoo-jun at 10-under-par 134. He then secured the winning birdie on the first hole of the playoff resumed at the 17th hole (Par 4). He received a winner's prize of 16 million KRW, rising to first place in the prize money rankings with 56,584,323 KRW.

Jeon Jun-hyeong played soccer until he was 13 years old and took up golf at the age of 14 at his parents' encouragement. After serving as a national representative reserve, he joined the KPGA in 2014 and mainly competed on the Srixon Tour. Jeon made his Korean Tour debut in 2018 as a top finisher in the Korean Tour Qualifying Tournament (QT) and finished tied for 3rd at the 62nd KPGA Championship in 2019. After finishing 73rd in both the Genesis Points and Genesis prize money rankings last year, failing to retain his tour card, he has been competing on the Srixon Tour this year.

Jeon said, "I am happy to achieve my first win since turning professional," adding, "Making a 10-meter birdie putt on the final 18th hole (Par 4) allowed me to reach the playoff." He continued, "My shots have improved compared to last year. Consistent results on the Srixon Tour have boosted my confidence," and stated, "My goal is to consistently place in the top 10 for the remainder of the season and return to the Korean Tour next year."

Jeong Yoo-jun performed well with a 6-under-par 66 but regrettably gave up the playoff by making a bogey on the 18th hole while leading by two strokes. This marks his second top-10 finish this year following a tie for 6th place in the inaugural tournament. Srixon Points leader Song Jae-il, Baek Ju-yeop, and Bae Jang-won finished tied for 3rd at 7-under-par 137. The 12th Srixon Tour tournament will be held over two days starting on the 29th at the same venue.
