Assembled Airbus Aircraft from Tianjin Delivered to Europe for the First Time

An aircraft produced at Airbus's final assembly line located in Tianjin, China, was delivered to Europe for the first time in over 14 years.

On the 27th, China Central Television (CCTV) reported that an A321neo aircraft produced at the Tianjin Airbus assembly line was successfully delivered to Hungary's Wizz Air. This is the first time an aircraft has been delivered to the European region since the assembly line opened in 2008.

The Tianjin Airbus A320 series aircraft final assembly line opened in 2008 and is the first Airbus final assembly line for commercial aircraft established outside Europe. The first A320 aircraft was delivered in 2009, and it has been in operation for over 14 years since then. Approximately four aircraft are produced each month, with a cumulative total of over 600 aircraft delivered to date.

The A321neo aircraft delivered to Wizz Air this time is the largest model in the Airbus A320 series, with a maximum capacity of 1,000 tons. The cabin can accommodate up to 244 passengers.

Airbus plans to begin construction to add a production line to the existing factory in the fourth quarter. Production capacity is expected to nearly double. Guillaume Faury, Airbus CEO, signed a related agreement at an event in April when French President Emmanuel Macron visited China and met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The new Airbus production line is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2025.

CCTV explained, "This factory will further strengthen Airbus's global production capacity and promote innovation and development in the aviation industry in both China and Europe."
