The Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters (Chief Joo Nak-dong) announced on the 28th that they visited the beneficiary residents of the 4th 119 Anshim House in Gyeongjang-dong, Gunsan City, to encourage them and delivered move-in gifts prepared by firefighters.

About 10 people participated in the event, including Kim Sang-gon, Head of the Prevention and Protection Division at Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters, Choi Dong-wi, Head of Jochon-dong Administrative Welfare Center, Wang Young-ho, Chairman of the Jochon Hanmaeum Community Security Council, and Oh Young-guk, Head of the Protection and Rescue Division at Gunsan Fire Station, who worked hard to support the Anshim House.

The beneficiary, Ms. Lee (60), is a basic livelihood security recipient living with her two university student children. However, around April, a fire broke out while her children were cooking, causing the interior of the house to be completely destroyed. Since then, they have been living in emergency housing provided by Gunsan City.

The eldest daughter of the family said, "I was scared because the fire happened due to my mistake, and I was at a loss about how to cover the restoration costs. I sincerely thank everyone who helped with the house repairs. I will study hard and, when I enter society, I will not forget the help I received and will strive to spread the warmth of sharing throughout society."

The 119 Anshim House support project is a program that repairs fire-damaged homes of vulnerable groups using funds raised from donations by companies and organizations in the province since 2022, jointly operated by the Fire Headquarters and the Jeonbuk Community Chest of Korea. It was selected as the best case nationwide in the ‘2022 Local Government Active Administration Comprehensive Evaluation’ and received a presidential institution commendation and a special grant of 100 million won as a prize.

In addition, since 2017, the Fire Headquarters has been promoting the ‘119 Happy House Support Project,’ which builds new homes for vulnerable groups affected by fire through collective donations from employees and volunteer firefighters. In 2020, it institutionalized temporary housing costs for fire victims for the first time nationwide and is actively working toward realizing ‘Strong and Happy Welfare Together,’ one of the five major indicators of the 8th Jeonbuk Provincial Government.

Chief Joo Nak-dong of the Fire Headquarters said, "We could not turn a blind eye to residents who suddenly found themselves homeless due to a momentary mistake. I feel very rewarded that companies and organizations in the province cooperated to provide homes for fire-affected residents. We will continue to carry out warm administration that soothes the pain of residents affected by fire together with the local community."

Meanwhile, those who wish to participate in supporting fire-affected residents in the province can contact the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters or the Jeonbuk Community Chest of Korea. Companies, organizations, and individuals can all participate, and so far, 11 companies and organizations, including SeAH Besteel, OCI, Hyundai Motor Company, and Huvis, have joined, raising 82 million won.
