Manufacturer Supply Price Increase Causes... Effective from the 1st of Next Month
Ahead of the peak summer season, prices of convenience store snacks such as ice cream and beverages are rising. In particular, ice cream prices are expected to increase by more than 20%, adding to consumers' burden.
According to the industry on the 25th, CU, GS25, 7-Eleven, and Emart24 will raise prices of some beverages, ice creams, side dishes, and canned products by up to 25% starting next month on the 1st. This is because manufacturers have increased supply prices citing rising raw material costs.
The product group with the highest rate of increase is ice cream. Screw bars, Jaws bars, Okdongja bars, Watermelon bars, Wild Body, Dwaejiba, and Amatna will each rise from 1,200 won to 1,500 won, a 25% increase, while Papico will increase from 1,500 won to 1,800 won, a 20% hike. With the summer season, when ice cream demand surges, just around the corner, prices of major popular products are rising significantly.
Coffee products are also seeing consecutive price increases. Georgia Original and Cafe Latte, Max canned coffee 240mL (all 1,200 won → 1,300 won), Gotica 270mL (2,200 won → 2,400 won), and Kraft 470mL (2,500 won → 2,700 won) are included in the price hike items.
For general beverages, Minute Maid Aloe and Grape 180mL (1,100 won → 1,200 won), Minute Maid Orange 1.5L (4,500 won → 4,900 won), Sunkist Yuzu and Quince (1,900 won → 2,000 won), Grape Bongbong, and Gara Mannun Bae (both 1,400 won → 1,500 won) will see price increases. Additionally, Heineken Non-Alcoholic 500mL will rise from 4,000 won to 4,500 won, and Tsingtao Non-Alcoholic 500mL will increase from 3,300 won to 3,700 won.
For side dishes, Anjuya Grilled Gopchang, Spicy Gopchang, Spicy Pork, Meat and Chive Dumplings, and Kimchi Tofu Dumplings will have price changes. For canned goods, prices of Dongwon peaches, sweet corn, and mackerel pike will be adjusted. The rate of increase is 5?12% for side dishes and 10?25% for canned goods. Prior to this, major imported beers and ready-to-eat chicken sold at convenience stores have seen prices rise by around 20% sequentially since last month. This is also a price adjustment due to manufacturers' supply price increases.
