The Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation will hold the "2023 Yeongdeok Cultural Heritage Night Tour" from 6 PM to 11 PM on July 14?16 at the Yeonghae Market Street Modern History and Culture Space in Yeongdeok.
The "Yeongdeok Cultural Heritage Night Tour" is a project selected through a public contest as part of the Cultural Heritage Administration's regional cultural heritage utilization program. This year, under the theme "Yeonghae 1924: Walking Through That Night," the event will recreate the appearance of Yeonghae 100 years ago at the Yeonghae Market Street Modern History and Culture Space.
The "Yeonghae Market Street Modern History and Culture Space," where this event will be held, is a nationally registered cultural heritage site designated in 2019.
This place is historically significant as the site of the first peasant movement in 1871, the Yeonghae Donghak Revolution, the anti-Japanese struggle led by the commoner militia leader General Shin Dol-seok, and the largest-scale March 18 Independence Movement in 1919. Along with traces of the Joseon Dynasty fortress, it offers a glimpse into the marketplace life of modern Koreans.
Families, couples, and friends can stroll through the Yeonghae Market Street Modern History and Culture Space and create unforgettable memories on a midsummer night. Beautiful lighting and sculptures will be installed at key points, and through eight categories?Night View (夜景), Night Road (夜路), Night History (夜事), Night Painting (夜畵), Night Setup (夜設), Night Food (夜食), Night Market (夜市), and Night Stay (夜宿)?with 19 diverse programs, the event will provide meaningful enjoyment.
A representative from the Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation stated, "We will do our best to ensure visitors can enjoy a variety of programs under the starlit summer night at the Yeonghae Market Street Modern History and Culture Space," and expressed the aspiration that "this cultural heritage night tour will develop into a major tourism event utilizing the unique historical and cultural resources of Yeongdeok-gun."
