Seoul City and Autonomous Districts Celebrate Abundant Promotions for Public Relations Officers

The promotion celebrations among Seoul City and district public relations personnel are abundant.

As the history of local autonomy has accumulated, the role of public relations in metropolitan and autonomous administration has gradually increased.

In fact, public relations is undoubtedly a very unique and challenging field for administrative officials.

Because of this, when a public official successfully carries out the public relations duties of an administrative head, they receive high evaluations and are rewarded with promotions.

In the July 1st promotion announcement, Park Kyunghwan, the Public Relations Officer of Seoul City, was promoted to Level 3 (Deputy Director), a position considered the “flower (star) of public officials” in Seoul City.

Deputy Director Park, a graduate of the Administrative Examination, has followed a traditional public relations career path, serving as Seoul City’s Newspaper Team Leader and then as Public Relations Officer, enjoying the honor of promotion. It is expected that Director Park will also take on the role of spokesperson in the future.

Choi Wonseok, former Public Relations Officer and a graduate of the Local Examination, was also promoted to Level 3 and currently serves as Public Relations Planning Officer.

Yoon Junghoe, former Newspaper Team Leader and a Level 7 public official, was promoted to Level 4 (Director) in January this year and is now in charge of the Inter-Korean Cooperation Division.

Public relations officers in Seoul’s autonomous districts have also been promoted one after another.

Lee Sookhee, Public Relations Manager of Gwanak-gu, was promoted to Level 4 (Director) as of July 1st and is on the verge of being appointed as a bureau chief.

In Gangnam-gu, Seo Hyuksu, Public Relations Team Leader, was promoted to Level 5 after just one year in the role during the 8th elected term, overcoming fierce competition, and was appointed as Acting Head of the Planning and Budget Division.

In Gangdong-gu, Ahn Jonghee, Public Relations Team Leader, was promoted to Level 5 after about six months and was appointed as Head of Amsa 2-dong.

Kwon Eunkyung, former Public Relations Team Leader of Yongsan-gu and now Head of the Women and Family Team, was promoted to Level 5 (Manager) and appointed as Head of the Cultural Promotion Division. Director Kwon, who served as Public Relations Team Leader during the Itaewon tragedy and later transferred departments, was recognized for her diligent work and earned this promotion honor.

Seo Jakyung, former Public Relations Team Leader and now Welfare Team Leader of Seongbuk-gu, was also promoted to Level 5 this time.

In Seongdong-gu, Ban Kyungja, Secretary Team Leader who worked as a Press Officer, and Park Mija, Welfare Policy Team Leader, joined the Level 5 promotion list announced on the afternoon of the 23rd.

Kim Jungsook, Administrative Team Leader of Wonhyoro 1-dong in Yongsan-gu, who served as a Press Officer for four years, was promoted to Level 5 and will take charge of the Senior and Youth Division.

In Jongno-gu, Lee Geumhyun, current Press Officer, and Song Gaseul, former Press Officer, were promoted to Level 6 (Assistant Manager).

As Seoul City and district public relations personnel continue to join the promotion ranks one after another, competition to take on public relations duties is expected to become more intense.

A district official stated, “Although public relations work is by no means an easy position for public officials, taking on this role definitely helps in understanding the overall city and district administration.”
