Together with Local Residents! ... Gyeongnam Jeongbodae Opens 'K-HiVE Lounge'

Gyeongnam Information University held an opening ceremony for the ‘K-HiVE Lounge’ in collaboration with local residents.


The opening ceremony took place on the 23rd at 1:30 PM in the Minseok Square of Gyeongnam Information University, in the form of a sharing session to inform local residents about the HiVE project.


The event was attended by over 200 people, including Park Dongsun, Chairman of Dongseo Academy; Jang Je-won, Member of the National Assembly; Kim Daesik, President of Gyeongnam Information University; Cho Byung-gil, Mayor of Sasang District; Yoon Sook-hee, Chairperson of Sasang District Council; city and district council members; local residents; policy committee members of Gyeongnam Information University; and the student council.


The program began with a performance by the fusion gugak group ‘Pine,’ followed by a project progress report by Park Yong-su, Director of the HiVE Center, and a welcoming speech by Kim Daesik, President of Gyeongnam Information University.


Subsequently, congratulatory speeches for the opening of the ‘K-HiVE Lounge’ were delivered by National Assembly member Jang Je-won, Sasang District Mayor Cho Byung-gil, and Sasang District Council Chairperson Yoon Sook-hee, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a facility tour.

The lounge was established using HiVE project funds and provides convenience facilities such as meeting rooms and a library for Gyeongnam Information University students and local residents.


The HiVE project is a lifelong education program unique to Gyeongnam Information University, operating a tuition-free curriculum over three years from 2022 to 2024 with an investment of 5.95 billion KRW..


Priority for enrollment is given to residents of Sasang District, with a total of 396 students selected?309 in 2022 and 87 in 2023?and currently, 334 have completed the program.


Among the graduates, 170 have obtained education-related certifications, 7 have secured employment, and 16 have enrolled at Gyeongnam Information University to continue their studies tuition-free.


A HiVE Center official stated, “We are continuing community contribution projects such as remodeling senior citizen centers, painting murals on elementary school passageways, and improving pedestrian walkways under the Moradong underpass,” adding, “We will strive even more to support the education and convenience of local residents.”
