Yeonggwang-gun to Hold 'Beopseongpo Dano Festival' Until the 25th

Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that the Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival will be held at the Beopseongpo Dano Festival Transmission Education Center area until the 25th.

The Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival, a representative traditional festival of the West Sea coast with a 500-year history and designated as National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 123, is held under the theme of Dano and Man-sa Hyeong-tong (well-being and success).

Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, will hold the Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival at the Beopseongpo Dano Festival Training Center area until the 25th.

On the first day, the 22nd, the festival began with the Sansinje ritual at Inuisan Wawujeong, followed by a senior talent show and the Dragon King ritual. At 6:30 PM, the 2023 Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival opening ceremony was held to commemorate Dano Day and mark the start of the festival.

The ceremony was attended by about 1,000 people, including County Governor Kang Jong-man, friendly local government heads such as Hamyang-gun Governor Lee Sang-ik, Hwasun-gun Governor Gu Bok-gyu, and Gokseong-gun Governor Lee Sang-cheol, as well as members of the National Assembly, provincial councilors, county councilors, heads of institutions and social organizations, hometown residents, citizens, and tourists.

At 7:30 PM, a special performance of KBS Gugak Hanmadang was held, followed by the Man-sa Hyeong-tong drone light show at 9 PM, brilliantly decorating the festival night.

During the remaining period, the Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival will offer various attractions to tourists, including traditional folk and ritual events such as Seonyu Nori and Suruk Daejae, the National Gugak Competition for Forest Warriors, the Beopseongpo Dano Festival Ssireum (Korean wrestling) Championship, the Beopseongpo Dano Song Festival, the National Arm Wrestling Competition, and various experiences and celebratory performances such as changpo (iris washing), swings, and eel catching.

The main performance lineup includes the Man-sa Hyeong-tong Song Concert on the 23rd at 6 PM featuring Somyung, Minji, and Seo Jeong-ah. Following that, from 7:30 PM, the 2023 Beopseongpo Dano Song Festival will feature Lee Dong-jun, Park Jin-do, and Jung Da-han. On the 24th, the Jeonnam Youth Man-sa Hyeong-tong Festival will showcase Korea’s first beatbox group, Seoul Pistols, and on the 25th closing ceremony, Park Sang-chul, Park Hye-shin, and Lee Soo-ho are scheduled to perform.
