On the 21st, it was confirmed that the Prime Minister's Office is expanding its service audit of the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE), the institution responsible for creating the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), to include the Ministry of Education. The reason for the audit is that President Yoon Seok-yeol's directive to exclude questions outside the curriculum from the CSAT was not properly reflected in the June CSAT mock exam.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, the Office of Public Service Management, which is responsible for establishing discipline in the public sector and managing public officials' service, has been conducting on-site audits at the Ministry of Education since the day before.
The Prime Minister's Office had previously agreed on the 16th to conduct a joint audit with the Ministry of Education on KICE, and now intends to verify whether the Ministry of Education, which is involved in the mock exam question creation, holds any responsibility.
At a briefing at the Government Complex Sejong on the same day, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said regarding the audit, "It seems the President clearly instructed Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs Lee Ju-ho on the purpose, but we need to clearly understand why it was not properly followed," adding, "If there is someone who should be held accountable, they must be held responsible as part of the service audit."
